L’Échappée

A rampart exists in order to separate. With 20syl, we took that function at its word: projecting onto the château’s southern curtain wall what it prevents us from seeing. Landscapes that do not exist, drawn horizons, an invented outside.

The stone imposes its rhythm — its recesses, its towers, the waterline of the moat that doubles everything. The sound does not comment on the images: it holds the other half of the story. The audience watched from the esplanade, on the far side of the water. The right distance for a wall to become a landscape again.
